Change Begins with The Truth

Last year I took an on-line course by Matthew McConnaughy based upon his book Green Lights. This transformational course began with the invitation to “come clean with yourself.” He is someone who has changed directions in his life many times and each of his shifts are preceded by speaking truth to himself. He counsels with his Soul. When he went from an unknown actor to becoming recognizable and “famous” after starring in the movie A Time to Kill he took himself off the grid to a The Monastery of Christ in the Desert walking over 13 miles to get there. He coupled his truth telling with a walkabout. Once there, he confessed to a priest “brother” for three and a half hours. Then, he felt clean.

Lying is a low vibration. Lying misleads, hurts, and damages. And yet when we get in the habit of telling ourselves little white lies, they pile up until we no longer know who we are. When we are separated from ourselves we experience feelings of being lost. To get ourselves back, we begin by telling ourselves the small “t” truths — what is and isn’t working in our lives and the capital T “Truths” that never change, anchoring us into the spiritual.

The Anonymous communities know the value of coming clean, apologizing, and setting things right. The first of the twelve steps is being honest.

And we begin with ourselves. What aren’t we acknowledging about our lives? Where are we out of integrity? Are we in some relationships that we ought to leave? Are we giving too much, not receiving enough? Are we messy? Do we hoard? Are we stuck in certain emotional patterns? Do we judge ourselves or others? Are we hating on ourselves or others? Do we see our life as fruitful? If not, who do we need to become to begin unfolding our magnificence? After coming clean with ourselves then we ask ourselves if others aren’t honest with us; and unpack that. Then, do we lie to others, and why.

Truth is a spiritual power. When spoken, energetically the heavens open and a breeze of fresh air fills the space. Biblical scripture says “the truth shall set you free,” for Truth is a precursor to Freedom.

As we approach the fourth of July and look at freedom as a country value, make a pit stop within yourself and give yourself the time and gift of becoming clean within yourself.

I Have Learned So Much From God (by Hafiz)

I
Have
Learned
So much from God
That I can no longer
Call
Myself A Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim
A Buddhist, a Jew.

The Truth has shared so much of Itself
With me
That I can no longer call myself
A man, a woman, an angel
Or even pure
Soul.

Love has
Befriended Hafiz so completely
It has turned to ash
And freed
Me

Of every concept and image
My mind has ever known.

Have a Blessed Day,

Reverend Bonnie
