Asking as a Spiritual Practice
Ask and it shall be answered. Matthew
I hired a business coach who specializes in growing spiritual businesses to work with me. I did this because I want hand holding with internet marketing and social media messaging. You see, I get real turned off with what feels like commercializing spirituality AND I know the teaching I do changes lives so I don’t want my bias to get in the way. There is a conflict inherent in these two things. I don’t know if I will ever shift the way I feel about commoditizing spirituality, yet ,I must change if I want to do what I love—:supporting individuals through transformations and spiritual deepening. My business coach loves to remind me to ASK and to SHARE. ASK for others who love me and my work to join me in SHARING my work with people they know. And, SHARE what I know works and doesn’t work for me with others. Serve.
I think of asking and sharing as sales and somewhere in my life ,despite all of the training I’ve received, I cringe when I do this. In my thirties and forties it was fun to ask. Books like Ask! The Bridge from Your Dreams to Your Destiny or The Aladdin Factor both by Mark Victor Hansen encouraged me and other entrepreneurs to turn asking into a game. I used to make lists of goals and desires and ask people questions about them that would further my action. I marveled at how brilliantly the Universe put people in my path and threw open doors with my asking. Then I became complacent. I’m not sure why. I could make up reasons, find excuses, but what a waste of my energy. So I sit here today hesitant to ask and completely motivated to do so as I know the value of stretching outside of my comfort zone. So I’ll begin again.
Here are a few quotes from the above books:
"The more you ask, the more you receive. It’s not magic—it’s a law of life." The Aladdin Factor
“Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.” The Aladdin Factor
“People who ask confidently get more than those who are hesitant and uncertain. When you've figured out what you want to ask for, do it with certainty, boldness, and confidence.” The Aladdin Factor
"We get rid of our baggage by asking questions." Ask! The Bridge from Your Dreams to Your Destiny
"If you ask the right question, you can get anywhere in the world." Ask! The Bridge from Your Dreams to Your Destiny
Asking isn’t limited to the physical realm, at all. Asking for healing, revelation, safety, guidance and more is part of the ongoing conversation with Spirit. I am doubling down with THE ASK and I will continue to SHARE as part of my life’s work. What are you afraid to ask for from the Universe or from others? Do you want to join me in building this muscle?
This time in my life is humbling AND I LOVE IT. I am starting over and with Divine Spirit as my boss I bless my way forward.
My wish for you is to live outside of your comfort zone.
Blessings,
